El Gran Malo (which means "The Big Bad" in Spanish) is a casual, new bar that is bringing handcrafted tequila infusions, specialty margaritas, and a generous selection of craft beers to Houston. El Gran Malo starts with 100% Agave tequilas and adds fresh, organic and often seasonal ingredients to create unique combinations of flavors, such as Texas pecan, sea salt, black pepper and cayenne, or green apple and cucumber. These fun concoctions enhance the tequila and pique the senses. Our tequila infusions can be sipped solo or enjoyed in a variety of fresh-squeezed juice cocktails. El Gran Malo also offers a delicious gastrocantina-inspired food menu by Chef Greg Lowry. The simple, yet flavorful menu boasts small plates such as Gulf snapper ceviche with cucumber, jicama and aji amarillo; and Crab, cotija cheese, and poblano empanadas as well as our infamous Torta which is our version of the hamburger with 100% black angus beef, LTO, pepper jack cheese, poblano and crema fresca and can be topped with chorizo, a fried egg and pork belly. The menu includes six types of tacos that can be ordered individually or by a bucket of three. Our guests have a choice of snapper, shrimp, pork carnitas, pork belly, chicken tinga or beef. Each taco is specially designed with toppings such as pomegranate salsa, micro cilantro, charred scallions, pumpkin seeds and house-pickled vegetables. Expect a festive indoor atmosphere, as well as a relaxing garden patio. The space also features a 6 x 28 foot mural by local Houston artist, Kevin Hernandez, and televisions to stay up with your favorite team.
