Medano Beach is the prime nesting place for many endangered sea turtles throughout the year. At Mango Deck we have six pens designated for gathering and protecting the turtle eggs from predators, pollution, and even sea accidents. On one occasion, while playing and frolicking on the beach, a barefooted client, discovered a turtle egg lying in the sand. The presence of a turtle egg indicated a possible undetected turtle nest. Immediately, the area was cleared and secured but because of the fuss and commotion, the client started to wonder if he might be in trouble. To the contrary, his find was significant, and we were grateful he alerted the staff. Our commitment to protecting these endangered species with which we share the same space and environment is uncompromising. Watching baby turtles rise from the sand mid-morning, between our beach chairs and tables filled with costumers and busy waiters, is a memorable and gratifying event that reflects the fruits of our labor.
